For this cannabis activist and 'out of the closet' consumer, I would add these additional concerns...
First, there exist a number of risks in forever playing the cannabis activist and educator, especially when one is so open about their use. There's a certain vulnerability that comes with this, the potential for fear and paranoia in a society where prejudice, illegality, and discrimination still exists.
There is also the risk of getting caught up in endlessly defending and explaining oneself, as if still trying to gain approval from opponents or acceptance from those who would otherwise shun association with that advocate who doesn't shy away from public talk about his personal use and first-person investigation.
To this I must admit to a growing frustration and even disgust, with how the economics of cannabis is playing out. In my own community of Manitou for instance, some business owners who originally rallied against legalization of rec cannabis are now making more money than ever with our town's popularity (much owed to cannabis) now at an all-time high. Yes, one must keep humor to cope in such matters, especially as other strong opponents (some former, some current), like governments and schools, now ironically benefit from cannabis taxation and income. Philosopher or not, sure does make one think; but it's not worth dwelling on.
On that note, I would lastly mention the risk of pigeon-holing oneself or allowing others to pigeon-hole you as that cannabis guy, or marijuana dude, or pot head. Thus, much as I love cannabis and may continue my efforts with others in this field, I'm ready to move on to other subjects and topics, as I've too many other interests in life I wish to study, explore, and investigate.
