I am privileged to live in the state of Colorado, the first place my ancestors came when they emigrated from Sicily four generations ago.  My great fortune to live in such a beautiful place is thanks to the hope, hard work and love of family that came before me.

I am proud to live in this land we call America, this land which has afforded so much opportunity for so many and whose founding ideals of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and that all are created equal still remains the golden ring we aim for. However we have stumbled and failed along the way, may history remain our teacher as we continue on this noble quest and make reparations for our blemished past, especially with the native peoples to whom we owe so much. I am proud to now stand with them and their noblest of men, even if only in spirit.

I am proud that Colorado is one of just over a dozen states that now allows the legal use of medical marijuana. I am proud of its citizens  who recognize this is a good and reasonable stance.  And I am inspired by all the groups like NORML, Americans for Safe Access, Sensible Colorado and folks in other states like California and Oregon who have fought so hard through the decades, many at great cost, to give marijuana its due status and recognition as medicine and more.

I am indebted to this place and people and these high ideals they stand for and defend. I am indebted to this land and this cannabis plant for helping me to see so many of the connections that make all this happen...for continually pushing me out of the box and back into the Circle. It is with great honor and respect and gratitude that I sit in this Circle and share what I have to offer.

How fortunate to be surrounded by such talent, commitment and love...my whole family, Frankmore and Greco...my mother and father, each of whom in their own way through support and sacrifice got me here......comrades of the Manitou Natural History Society and their families, your company not only makes the journey more rewarding, but a damn good time too!...brothers  Brent, Chris, Dr. Dave, Sir Reg and the rest, you've helped make and keep the dream alive over the years...sisters-mothers-daughters in blood and spirit, Gina to Lissa, Cindy, Tiff and Laura, "Big A" to "Little Z", for all the wonderful things you bring to life...all my teachers through the years...my delightful pharmacy family, may we somehow work together again in yet greener pastures... all tribe Manitou with special acknowledgment to master esoteric historian Wizard Scott, how I relish the singular torch you bear...longtime comrades and fellow flyers of the canyonlands, Rog and Hawk Circling, how I cherish our flights at the precipice and beyond, a great big CAW to both of you...and my beloved son Dominic, who inspires and teaches me always...THANK YOU!

Deeper still into the forest, aspen gently give way to ponderosa, the exposed summit of the mountain grows larger with each step. The path is not obvious and there are many false paths going off  towards any number of destinations, unknown locations, but fear must not prevent exploration. True paths are rarely straight, and those that are usually pass by fewer interesting sights
